Partner Skills Assessment

Overview

If your partner is able to satisfy the following:

• Age requirements
• English language requirements
• An occupation nominated on the same Skilled Occupation List (SOL). The Australian Partner Skills Assessment requires that this nominated occupation must have been assessed by the right assessing authority.

Document showing that he/she has met the Australian study requirement. Alternatively, he/she must have a recent work experience in the skilled occupation listed on the SOL.

Eligibility Criteria

Then you are absolutely qualified to claim his/her “partner skills” points. Note, however, that you cannot claim these points if:

• Your partner is an Australian Permanent Resident
• Your partner is an Australian citizen
• Your partner is not included in your visa application.

The Australia Partner Skills Assessment Visa requirements emphasize that before you are awarded any points, you must provide documents to show that your partner has met all the requirements needed for the General Skilled Migration Visa you are applying for. The documentary evidence includes:

• A positive skills assessment for their nominated occupation. This must have been conducted by the concerned assessing authority.
• Evidence of age to prove that they are not up to 50 years of age.
• The document confirming a level of competence in the English language.

Document showing any of the following:

- That the Australian study requirements were met in the last 6 months before applying.

- That they have e recent work experience precisely for at least 12 months out of the last 24 months before applying. This with experience must be in a skilled occupation.
