Australia: Latest Updates About Immigration After Election

The federal election of Australia is over, and assume that the Liberal National Party coalition will secure government for the following 03 three years. There has been no statement on changes to the Immigration Minister as yet, so we need to anticipate and see.

Regional Visas

A retained LNP government indicates some trust that the stated Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa and the Skilled Employer Sponsored (subclass 494) visa will start in Nov 2019 as advised. The push to prioritize the migrants' movement into the Australian regional area will remain strong on this agenda of the government.

Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA)

Moreover, DAMAs are in the works, promoting the regional push, and supporting companies in these areas to obtain skilled and semi-skilled abroad workers to satisfy their operational requirements. There is excellent flexibility in the arrangements of DAMA than in the pathway of Standard Business Sponsorship, including a path to a wide range of professions, concessions of threshold salary, and age concessions for Australia PR.
The Government of South Australia has entered into two DAMAs with the Home Affairs Department which is assumed to come into force on 1 July 2019:
Adelaide Technology and Innovative Advancement Agreement - aids employers in the Adelaide Metropolitan region in space, defense, and advanced technology and manufacturing industries with the ability to access and maintain a highly-skilled workforce.
South Australian Regional Workforce Agreement - comprising the whole South Australia State, this DAMA provides organizations in the regional growth areas of health and aged care, agribusiness, tourism, and hospitality, mining, and construction, with the capability to access and maintain a skilled workforce.

Nomination Rejections - 457 and 482 (TSS)

Some fascinating data has been announced below the Freedom of Information Act, revealing the subclass 457 or subclass 482 nomination results for applications lodged within 1 Nov 2016 to 31 Jan 2019.
As per the report, approximately 10 percent of all nominations were rejected, and a further 7 percent were 'otherwise finalized' or withdrawn.

Review of Skilling Australians Fund (S.A.F)

The published data also reveals that there may be a significant number of Australian companies out of pocket, as the S.A.F levy is not refundable if the proposal is rejected. Greatly, the Skilling Australians Fund levy law is due to experience a review in nearby Nov 2019, with several parties advocating for a revision of the provisions of refund.
