Canadian Immigration is the Key Factor for Population Growth in Canada

New Information from Statistics Canada has unveiled that immigration was the primary driving force behind the growth of population in Canada from the beginning of January to the end of March 2019. In the initial quarter of 2019, a sum of 98,410 individuals moved to Canada, and the country population grew to 37.4 million by 1 April 2019.

Immigration valued for 83% of the Canadian population growth in the initial quarter of 2019, while regular population growth provided only 17%. General population growth indicates the difference in births and deaths throughout a specific period. In Canada, the growth of natural population observed a record low in the primary quarter of 2019, with only approximately 17000 higher births than deaths.

Statistics Canada Report on Natural Population and Immigration Population

The report statistics Canada foretells that the descending trend in the share of natural growth in population is likely to remain. It may start to Canada more depending on global migration for maintaining adequate growth of the population.

However, it must also be taken into concern that the general increase in population is usually weaker in Canada in the first part of every year, owing to several seasonal factors. Yet, data reveals that there have never been plenty of deaths reported in a one quarter as in the present 2019.

It should be seen that despite immigration participating in a significant way towards the growth of population, the number of recent permanent residents welcomed by Canada was the lowest, at the number 65,959 related to the opening quarter of any year starting from 2015. At the meantime, Canada observed the most substantial increase in the number of residents who have non-permanent status admitted to the nation since 1989. A 31,547 rise in the non-permanent residents in the initial quarter of 2019 was the primary driver of population increase during this period, as per the Statistics Canada.

Every province of Canada except Newfoundland & Labrador province observed growth in population in the opening quarter of 2019. The tremendous population increase was observed by Alberta and Ontario, where the growth rate was 0.4%. The national growth rate was 0.3% on a standard during this period, and the entire population of Canada came to approximately 37,067,011.
