Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand PM addressed the NZ citizens treatment being deported from Australia due to character test failing. The character test contains several factors for which maximum cancellations occur due to the visa holder owning a strong criminal record. Back in Dec 2014, new laws were passed that demanded visas to be canceled it should include any person in Australia containing a permanent or temporary visa serve or be sentenced of an offense in Australia with an imprisonment term of 12 months or higher. This law encouraged the character test extensively and captured several who otherwise wouldn't have had their visas canceled.
There may well be the additional strengthening of the character examination in the future. One nationality that noticed several cancellations were citizens of New Zealand who overwhelmingly have the most significant number of visa cancellations in the last year by a factor of minimum four over the next nation, the UK.
Ardern, New Zealand PM brought up this problem with Scott Morrison, Australia PM, the minister accountable for immigration at the time of this legislative reform, due to few citizens having few links to NZ, spending the majority of their lives in Australia.
The UK and Australia have always had a unique relationship. Being a previous colony, however, does not give UK nationals with any visa related to New Zealand. Years ago, UK immigration was discussing in Parliament with the opportunity of easing visa limitations to citizens of their previous dominions.
While this did not seem to have performed any progress, the agreements between the UK and Australia on an FTA brought up concerns range. On the Australian immigration topic, the UK has asked for:
While no special visa subclass was stated it seems that these demands refer to the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) visa, Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187) visa and Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa.
