PEI issued a total of 1,446 invitations in 2018, when it first operated the system of Expression of Interest.

1,240 of these were in the Labor Impact and Express Entry categories, and 206 were for the benefit of Business Impact candidates. It conducted a large draw on Oct 18th, 2018, and invited 297 candidates.

PEI Express Entry Stream

This category works after allowing for candidates who are already present in federal EE Pool for the provincial nomination. Additionally after this nomination 600 points are added to the CRS score of a candidate and this is an effective guarantee to obtain the ITA to get the Canadian Immigration.

Two pathways cater to get permanent residence. The classification here is that the first belongs to candidates having the job offer and the second for candidates without the job offer.

Work Permit Stream

Persons applying under the PEI Work Permit Stream needs obtaining the work permit besides working for a local business covering a fixed time as per the terms of the Performance Agreement.

Subsequent to this the applicant needs investing $150,000 in a business and also managing it on a daily basis from the province itself.

A previous PEI direct PR business stream was closed in September 2018 over some concerns.
